DETECTIVES investigating a robbery at Filton Post Office need your help tracing the origin of a weapon used by the offenders.
The robbery took place on Thursday, July 17, when two men entered the shop on Church View armed with a knife and a wooden baton.
They took cash before fleeing on a motorbike which was found abandoned soon afterwards on Southmead Road.
The wooden baton has been seized and is believed to be a wooden bannister (or similar) which was smashed into three pieces by the offender when he smashed it against a wall.
We'd like to speak to anyone who discarded the bannister recently or knows where it's come from.
In addition, we'd also like to hear from anyone who saw the bike between it being stolen in Cotham the night before the robbery and it being abandoned after the robbery.
The investigation continues and a second suspect has been arrested in connection with the robbery. A man arrested earlier is now on bail pending further enquiries.
