A DEPARTMENT store in Thornbury got its fund raising boots on as it helped raise money for the charity Guide Dogs.

Wildings, in Thornbury high street hosted a special event complete with lucky dip to raise funds for the charity which helps to train the guide dogs of the future.

Staff at the shop also sold cream teas and hosted various games which in the end raised around £250 for the charity.

A number of people who use their own guide dog also were at the event to show their support for the work that Guide Dogs does.

Samantha Foley, a sales assistant at Wildings helped to organise the event and was pleased with how it went.

“It was really good, we had more people turn up than we thought we would especially as we organised it at such short notice.

“I want to try and hold more of these in the future and hopefully with a bit more notice they’ll be even more successful.
