COMPTON Greenfield’s All Saints’ Church hosted a successful art exhibition and sale last weekend.

The sale on of art and refreshments on the day raised in excess of £1,900 which will go towards the upkeep of the church.

There was a large variety of art work on show, from watercolours and acrylics to photographs and stained glass pieces.

Among the many who visited the exhibition, held on Saturday, September 13, was Filton and Bradley Stoke MP Jack Lopresti.

After talking to some of the artists who had displayed their work in the church he told the organisers how impressed he was with the event.

The Rev Ann Lloyd, curate at the church, said: “There was a real sense of teamwork and community support which was remarked on by many of the visitors. Thanks are due to the artists who gave so generously of their talents.”

The church are planning to host a range of fundraising events throughout autumn, including a harvest lunch, candle-lit advent concert by the St Oswald Singers and the annual village carol service.
