THE annual St Peter’s Hospice Golf Day proved a success raising a magnificent sum of just over a thousand pounds.

The fundraiser took place on Friday 3 October at Thornbury Golf Centre, where the Severnside Support Group encouraged teams to play golf in aid of the Bristol charity.

Forty-four people participated in eleven teams and £1005 was raised for the hospice which cares for adults with life-limiting illnesses.

The fundraiser has been held for 18 years and this year saw a four ball Stableford competition played for team trophies and prizes.

Chairman of the Severnside Support Group for six years Kath Burgess said: “It went very well, it was marvellous, thanks to all the supporters and staff there. We have fundraisers about once a month, like our coffee mornings, and we have alot of things lined up.”

Prizewinners of the various trophies were; The TeaLeafs, Birdie Hopefulls, The Optimists, Stevenson Building Contractors and Kendalls Old Boys. Fun competition winners were; Simon Powell, Diana Ouzman, Diana Head, Ian Butler, Mike Kendall and J Davies.

Next year will be the 30th Anniversary of the Severnside Support Group and over the past 29 years the fundraisers have raised just over £3018.

St Peter’s Hospice prominently relies on fundraising and donations to provide care for patients and support their families and loved ones. The hospice sends sincere thanks to all the teams that took part, their sponsors for their valuable help and Thornbury Golf Centre staff. The date for next year’s fundraiser is Friday 2 October 2015.
