THE priority locations for Gloucestershire Road Safety Partnership's mobile speed detection vans have been released for November.

They are:

• Coleford Road, Bream

• Fancy Road, Parkend

• Perrygrove, Coleford

• Picklenash, Newent

• A4136 Brierley

• A48 Woolaston

The number of speeding offences detected in October's priority locations have also been issued:

• A40 Churcham school 29 in 5 visits (average 6 per visit)

• A436 Andoversford primary school 59 in 5 visits (average 12 per visit)

• A4173 St Peters school, Gloucester 73 in 5 visits (average 15 per visit) - this maintains a small reduction from the first priority month.

• Newbarn Lane, Cheltenham 85 in 5 visits (average 15 per visit) - representing a small reduction • Cleeve school, Bishops Cleeve 21 in 5 visits (average 4 per visit)

• A417 Dartley Bottom towards Swindon 285 in 5 visits (average 57 per visit).

Rob Vestey, from the Road Safety Partnership, said: "The results give an example of the levels of speeding outside some of the county’s schools and we would ask motorists to think about this and change their behaviour.

"The Dartley Bottom results should be seen in the context of a significantly higher number of vehicles using the road.

"However the figures show the extent of the problem along the stretch of dual carriageway.

"This stretch of road has the five highest recorded vehicle speeds in Gloucestershire on a fast road with no hard shoulder. The Road Safety Partnership has commenced a multi-agency problem profile on this road to try and improve safety for road users.

"Next month, following requests from officers and in support of community speed watch initiatives, our priority sites will all be in the Forest of Dean.

"The release of this information is all about reducing speeds across the county and particularly those hotspot areas that have been identified.

"It also shows us acting on community concerns and will provide people with clear information about what we have found.

"We won't be advertising the days we will be at each site but if someone looks at the list and adjusts their behaviour when they are driving along that road clearly this will have been a success."
