A TYTHERINGTON pub hosted a Halloween fundraiser and charity head shave for CLIC Sargent – the UK’s leading charity caring for children and young people with cancer, and their families.

Sophie Johnson, 30, from Tytherington took part in a Big Buzz, where she shaved off her hair to raise funds for the cause.

The event raised in excess of £2,200 with the help of a local band ‘The Honkey Tonks’, a raffle and commissions from The Body Shop all adding to the sponsorship from the main event!

Family, friends and locals ensured that Sophie's head shave was an awesome event. Starting with ‘bunches’ of hair cut off with scissors selling from upwards of £5 each and moving on to bids of £150 for half a head of shaved hair being won by Sophie's dad Hugh Johnson and a longstanding family friend Jerry Bull.

Hannah Worrall, fundraising manager at CLIC Sargent said: “It was such a brilliant evening, Sophie did a great job rallying up so many generous people all in one place.

“Thank you very much indeed to everyone who contributed to such a phenomenal total – well done Sophie!”

Amongst the organisations who contributed a prize to the raffle were: The Forestry Commission, Optimus Chiropractic and Physiotherapy clinic, Pinkers, Puzzle Wood, Dean Forest Railway, Heather Perry holistic massage, Bluebird and Robin, the Swan at Tytherington and Wickwar brewery.
