INFORMATION sent anonymously through the Avon & Somerset police website led to the discovery of cannabis worth approximately £8,000.
A member of the public submitted the information regarding a house in Herridge Road, Hartcliffe, suggesting that cannabis was being cultivated at the address.
Yesterday (Tuesday), officers acted on the information and discovered a cannabis bush at the property.
A 36-year-old man is now helping officers with their enquiries.
PC Helen Head, the neighbourhood beat manager for the area, said: "This shows the value of the community using the Avon & Somerset Constabulary website.
"Whilst we would always encourage people to speak to us directly, we will act upon anonymous information where we have powers to do so.
"The address involved is a council property, and we shall be working with Bristol City Council to help them enforce their tenancy conditions with regards to this sort of offence.
"We hope that anyone else considering undertaking similar activities will think twice when they realise that their council home could also be at risk."
Anyone wishing to report a crime can do so here. Alternatively, call us on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.
