Muslim hackers take control of local travel website
A TRAVEL website which was hacked by a group called Darkshadow has been put back online.
Popular travel planning and information website www.travelwest.info was hit by the group which described itself as an “Arab Security Team”.
The website was hacked on New Year’s Day and was not restored until morning on Friday, January2.
The site provides travel news and updates as well as public transport timetables for the West of England.
Run by the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership, it is believed that the hackers had mistaken the site for www.travelwest.com – a website which offers travel tours around the globe.
