A CHILDREN’S author from Alveston has released the first two books in her new children’s series.

Debra Nunn, 61, has just released the first two books in her new children’s series, titled Bryan the Pigeon.

The book series is aimed at pre-schoolers and each story aims to cover an experience that children will readily relate to, with a moral to the story or one of life’s lessons to be learned along the way.

Mrs Nunn said: “Bryan the Pigeon was a character I dreamed up for my 2-year-old granddaughter when telling her bedtime stories, because she was fascinated with the wood pigeons which visited my garden every day.

“I had fun creating new stories about him to keep her entertained, and he soon became a family favourite. It seemed a natural progression to write the stories down and then illustrate them, so that we could read them together.

“I decided to publish the stories for two reasons. Firstly, because many of my friends' children and grandchildren had started to discover and enjoy my hand-made books.

“But my primary reason for publishing is because, by now, I have three gorgeous grandchildren and want to leave them something for the future which was created especially for them.”

The first book in the series, titled Bryan the Pigeon Goes to School, was released on Monday, January 12 and the second, Bryan the Pigeon Loses his Mummy, will be released on Thursday, January 29.

A further four titles in the series are due to be released the summer.
