CALLS have been made to repaint road markings at a busy mini roundabout in Thornbury.

The roundabout is at the junction of Gloucester Road, The Plain and Quaker Lane but the markings have worn away so much that they are difficult to see.

Thornbury Town Council said it had reported it on a number of occasions to South Gloucestershire Council, which is responsible for carrying out the work.

Concerns were also raised about the condition of the junction by a local resident at a recent town council meeting.

But South Gloucestershire said although the job was on a list of priorities, it had to wait for better weather to get the work done.

Council spokeswoman Sarah Hudspith said: “We are aware of the worn road markings at this location and this is on our priority list of works to be completed.

"We have been to the site on two occasions but we were unable to start the work because it is weather dependent and we need the roads to be dry and free from salt from the gritting runs.”
