MOSAICS are the focus of a course being run by the Thornbury branch of the Workers’ Educational Association (WEA).

After a very successful feltmaking course at the end of last year the group’s new local artist, Nadia Addonizzo, has given learners plenty of ideas and the enthusiasm to try another craft.

The course is being held at Turnberrie’s Community Centre and the group are working on decorating mirrors, garden pots, coat hooks and pot stands. There has been a great deal of smashing tiles and china! "

The WEA Thornbury Branch is currently planning the September course programme and are always looking for new ideas and volunteers to help out with the programme.

Jacquie Rinaldi, one of the group’s volunteers, said: "Although it is a national organisation supported by government funding, we work locally with volunteers who make suggestions and decide what they would like to run, when and where.

“There is very little commitment but there is a great deal of opportunity to make new friends and learn new skills."

If you would like to help plan the 2015/16 programme feel free to come along and chip in your own thoughts. Phone Kate on 01454 610071
