POLICING teams in the Thornbury and Alveston area have carried out identification stamping of horse tack in an attempt to reduce rural crime.

The event took place at the Countrywide store in Thornbury with members of the public being offered crime prevention advice and having their tack stamped with postcodes.

Neighbourhood PC Sean White said: "We are always looking at ways to reduce crime and this is the start of an ongoing operation to target rural thieves. The day was very successful and more dates are being planned for the future with the police rural crime team.

The next event will be on Sunday, March 22 from 11-2pm at Pinkers country stores in Latteridge.
