FREE training sessions have been arranged to provide iPad training for over 55s and those who have a disability.

Thornbury South and Alveston Conservative campaigners, Karen and Steve Blick, have teamed up with the charity Action on Disability and Work UK to run the programme in Thornbury.

The ‘Silver Surfer Training’ sessions will be held at the Turnberrie’s centre in the town on Wednesday, March 11, with each session restricted to a maximum of 10 people to ensure training is hands on enough

This is the first trial outreach sessions for the charity, based in Bristol, who are hoping to provide more sessions throughout South Gloucestershire.

They are designed to help older and disabled people remain self-sufficient by teaching them the skills to access online shopping, banking and to help them stay in contact with friends and family through platforms including Facebook and Skype.

The charity was founded to provide support to disabled people to help them into paid work opportunities.

They bought a number of iPads earlier this year to enable them to run training courses using the tablets in an increasingly online world.

The sessions are free, to book a place call Karen Blick on 07809775414, or Steve Blick on 07826031439.
