DESPITE the weather the Spring Thornbury Food Fair held on Saturday was a ‘resounding success’.

Over 50 stalls set up shop in the centre of Thornbury and welcomed a strong turnout from foodies from across the region on Saturday, March 28.

Castle Street was closed for the fair as hundreds of people turned up to taste the best of the regions culinary craftsmen.

The fair is not solely for local food and drink producers, however, Tortworth Plants was one of the stalls selling flowers and gifts on the day.

Rowena Moncrieffe, chairman of Thornbury Chamber of Commerce which organises the popular events, said that despite concerns about the weather the day was still a success.

“We had a very good turn out,” she said. “Over 50 stalls were there this time and despite one or two casualties to the weather it was a resounding success.

“One thing that I particularly noticed was stallholders being very complimentary about the people who had turned up to the fair in the poor weather.

“The stallholders and public who attended the fair had a good day.”

The popular fairs are held four times a year to coincide with each season. The summer food fair will be held on Saturday, June 20.
