THREE men have been jailed for a total of more than 20 years for committing a series of armed robberies at shops across Bristol.
Bradley Johnson, aged 18, will serve four years in prison while Lee Humphreys, aged 21, has been jailed for five years and seven months. Levin Cook, aged 24, has been jailed for six years eight months with an extended licence of four years after being classified as a dangerous offender.
The sentences were all handed out today (April 24) at Bristol Crown Court.
The men targeted McColls newsagent stores in Westbury on Trym, Frenchay and Southmead during September last year stealing more than £1,000 worth of cash and goods.
Two of the men were caught fleeing the scene of the last armed robbery in a stolen car that was taken in the burglary of a home in Knowle the previous night.
DC Mai Wong, officer in charge of the case, said: “These were particularly menacing and frightening offences for the victims as the men used knives, baseball bats and hammers to threaten them with violence. They also took a substantial amount of money and goods.
“We are pleased with the sentence given today and hope that this will act as a deterrent to others.”
