THE CHAIRMAN of Thornbury in Bloom Cllr Guy Rawlinson has been re-elected as the town mayor for the next year.
At the town council’s AGM, councillors agreed that Cllr Rawlinson should stay on in the position.
Speaking before being formally re-elected he said: “It has been a wonderful year representing the council out in the community.
“It really has been an honour and undoubtedly the highlight was pushing my way through the crowds at the Christmas lights switch-on in front of thousands of very happy people.
“I thought they were there for me but later on I realised there were two young lads who they seemed more interested in.”
Cllr Helen Harrison was unanimously voted in as deputy mayor after being nominated by Cllr Clive Parkinson for “the good work she has done in the town for wide parts of the community.”
