STUDENTS in Thornbury were introduced to networking with local businesses at a special event.

A networking lunch was held for students in the sixth form hall at The Castle School, in Park Road, on June 25.

The event, organised by the Castle School Premium Partnership scheme, aimed to introduce students to the importance of developing networks and to encourage the students to present themselves confidently and effectively.

The event saw 39 students from The Castle School sixth form, aged between 16 and 17-years-old, network with 29 businesses both local and from further afield.

Sarah MacIsaac, business development coordinator at The Castle School, said: “Premium Partner events like this offer a fantastic opportunity for both businesses and students.

“The aim was to introduce students to the importance of developing networks and to encourage them to present themselves confidently and effectively.

“Work experience, useful contacts and new ideas have resulted from this important event.

“We will do another one next year. We are hoping to run one for Marlwood sixth form students too next year.”

Castle School Premium Partners started four years ago at the school as a way of linking business and education for the future of its students.

The school now have approximately 60 businesses as part of the scheme.
