THE ANNUAL Thornbury Volunteer Centre volunteer fair was hosted earlier this month bringing together a number of community and voluntary groups.

Held on Thursday, July 7 at the St Mary Shopping Centre in Thornbury, 17 organisations attended to raise awareness of their work, to fundraise and promote their volunteering opportunities.

Amongst the visitors were Thornbury town mayor Guy Rawlinson with his consort, Andrea Bates.

Entertainment was provided by children’s choir The Octaves who performed throughout the morning.

The successful event helped to raise awareness of volunteering opportunities in the area but also provided much-needed funds for the organisations which took part.

Anyone interested in volunteering or who would like more information should contact the volunteer centre by emailing mail@volunteer-thornbury.co.uk or calling 01454 413392. The centre is also open on weekday mornings between 10.30am and 12pm at Thornbury Town Hall.
