AN ANNUAL event organized by Thornbury Rotary Club saw more than 100 schoolchildren and staff take part in a special Kids Out Day.

The national event is coordinated by Kids Out – a charity supporting disadvantaged children.

Thanks to financial support from Rolls-Royce the club took on its most ambition event yet in support of New Siblands schools in Thornbury.

On Wednesday, June 10 dozens of pupils were taken to Slimbridge wetlands centre whilst a bouncy castle was set up at the school site for pupils who were not capable of joining the main party.

A return visit to the wetlands centre for next year’s event has already book and the Rotary club are hoping to secure external sponsorship to ensure it can run.

Two members of the club were invited to the school’s weekly assembly on Friday, June 19 and were given a warm welcome by the children who thanked them for organizing the event.

Club president Robin Cole-Morgan was presented with a thank you card by each pupil at its conclusion.
