THE Pilning Flower Show is set to return for its 46th year later this month.

The event will return on August 29, at St Peter’s School, organised by a team of volunteers with help from the community.

Richard Edwards, chairman of the organising committee, said: “Our aim is for this traditional community event to be successful with wide involvement and to raise money for a local good cause.

“Following a record breaking last year, prize money has been raised by 50 per cent and there are new trophies to be won in the Trevor Fry Junior Cup and the President’s Award for best craft entry.

“The only change in classes this year is the introduction of a petite flower arrangement and we are hoping for more entries this time around for cider and winemaking.

“Do come along even if you haven’t entered - there’s lots to enjoy like the wonderful exhibits, the home-made cakes and teas, the bumper raffle and bidding in the auction of show produce and donated items.”

Entry to all 78 classes at the event is free and all money raised from the show will be donated to charity Pilning Pips Pre-School.

Programmes are now available for the show from local shops including Londis, McColl’s and Dinky Deli.
