POLICING teams in the Thornbury area are reporting an increase in rural crime over the last few weeks, with commercial vehicles and outbuildings being targeted in particular.
Thieves have taken power tools and farm trailers, later using them to steal items like quad bikes.
Premises around Morton, Crossways Lane and Tytherington have been attacked in recent weeks overnight by offenders who are thought to have good knowledge of the area.
Pc Sean White said: “We do see an increase in this sort of crime during the summer months, but I am committed to bringing offenders to justice with our future plans and hard work”
A police farm watch scheme is now being introduced to the Thornbury area so that farmers can mark equipment and increase security around their buildings.
