BAR OWNERS hosted a successful event in Thornbury aimed at making talking about death easier.
James Murray and Simon Extance, business partners of Hawkes House, in St Mary Street, held the Grave Talk event in their cafe bar on August 11.
The event aimed to enable people to talk about death and funerals in a relaxed atmosphere, organised by the pair in conjunction with Thornbury Parish Church.
Mr Murray said: “Part of our role as a neighbourhood cafe bar is to provide spaces for community open up and discuss an issue which can be a difficult to broach with family and friends.
“The first Grave Talk had about 10 people attend, and more customers joined in when they saw what was going on.
“Hopefully this will grow on Tuesday, September 29, when we try the event again during a morning session at 9.30am.
“Those who attended sent me some really positive feedback regarding the experience and the venue which was nice to hear.”
