HAIRDRESSERS in Thornbury are holding a special event to support people with cancer.
The Hair Studio, in St Mary’s Street, will host a Macmillan Day next week to raise money for the charity.
Owner and hairdresser Jeanne Cornill said the studio’s last event for the charity raised over £400 which she hopes to beat this time round.
“We held a Macmillan Day last year and did really well, but we now have a target to maybe double it,” she said.
“Myself and Jane O’Donell, who run the studio, as well as client Trish Gitcham, a regular client, have organised the event. There will be raffles, with prizes brought in as donations, and an auction of which we have some amazing jewellery for.
“There’ll be plenty of tea, coffee and cake with some haircutting in between.
"This year we have lots of spectacular knitted toys too.
“My mum passed away less than two years ago, and before she died she was treated amazingly by Macmillan which is why I am so passionate about the charity.
“It’s an amazing cause.”
The fundraising day will take place on September 1 from 10am to 6pm.
The charity supports people affected by cancer, including patients and their carers, families and communities.
