A TEACHER is set to dance her way through 10 challenges to raise money for Southmead Hospital Charity.

Emily Holloway, 29, has come up with ‘The 10 Dance Challenge’, which will involve her taking on different dance routines, from tap to foxtrot, to learn and choreograph over the next year.

Miss Holloway, who runs Anybody Can Dance workshops in the city, has already started with a recreation of the Pharrell William’s ‘Happy’ video on the streets of Bristol.

She said she wanted to do something different to raise money for the Bristol hospital’s charity.

“Dance is a powerful and fun way to bring people together,” she said.

“I would love to hear from anyone who would like to get involved – especially with the Zumbathon where we need as many people as possible to get dancing.”

Miss Holloway hopes to organise a flash mob in the city centre followed by a version of the cup song from the film Pitch Perfect.

She will then perform Beyonce’s 'Single Ladies' before coming up with her version of the mirror comedy dance from the TV show The Vicar of Dibley.

Next will be a tribute to Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers on the steps outside the Victoria Rooms, with the iconic white feather dress.

Then comes the famous Dirty Dancing routine – with the lift – before a tap dance routine and culminating in a Zumabathon.

Adrian Brown, community appeals manager for Southmead Hospital Charity, said: “Emily has come up with a unique and interesting way to fundraise, its great to see people Do Something Super for Southmead and take on fundraising challenges that are a bit different.

“We are really looking forward to seeing the dances and the videos Emily and her dance partners recreate, and we might even get involved ourselves in the big Zumbathon.”

Southmead Hospital Charity raises money to support the work of Southmead Hospital, Cossham Hospital and community health services in the Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.
