A POPULAR produce show was a success in Hill raising over £300 for the village hall.


Hill Village Hall hosted its annual show on Saturday, August 22, showcasing over 50 entries from villagers in various categories including fruit, vegetables, eggs, floral arrangements and photography.


The event, organised by Hill Village Hall committee, also featured residents’ hand-crated items, planted containers and items made from recycled materials.


All the entries were auctioned off at the end of the event, with £325 being raised in total to support the village hall.


Hill Village Hall secretary Michelle Hall said the standard of produce had definitely improved this year.


She said: “The exhibitors’ ages ranged from three to 85-years-old and the standard of produce was year has improved and was much harder to judge this year from other years.

"Ruth Kitson won best in show with her sweetpeas.


“The whole day was a great success, well done to everyone who took part in the produce show.”


Social media manager for Hill Village Hall committee, Ginny Mann, said: “It is a very beautiful event with many fantastic vegetables, flower arrangements and creations.


“The produce show went very well and good fun was had by all. It was very rainy by the end of the day but that did not stop the fun - we played skittles in the rain.”
