TOCKINGTON’S Harvest Fayre was a huge success attracting a record number of people to the village.

The event, which took place on September 19, filled Tockington Green with live music, stalls, games and an array of local produce.

More than £2,000 was during the annual fayre, which helps fund the upkeep of Tockington and Olveston chapels and halls.

Organiser Jane Sawyer said: “The lovely warm weather brought out the biggest crowd that has been seen on Tockington Green since the first fayre was held in there in 1969 - although there have been fairs there from the mid-14th century.

“There were plenty of stalls and games for everyone and The Femmes, a 1940’s close-harmony vocal trio, provided the main entertainment and also judged the brilliant children’s fancy dress parade.

"The Reverend David Bone who also crowned the Harvest Queen opened the fayre.

“The delicious cream teas were particularly popular and allowed many of the crowd to sit and enjoy the marvellous setting and spirit of this annual village event.

"The Brownies ended the event with a marvellous dance routine based on Toy Story.

“The organisers from Olveston and Tockington Methodist Church would like to thank everyone for their support for this year’s fair, especially all the helpers.

“Congratulations to all the prize winners and the fayre raised £2,221 - another record.”
