YOUNG dancers in Alveston wowed the crowds as they danced at a London charity event.

Dancers from Sharon Philips School of Dancing, based at the Alveston Jubilee Hall, Youth Centre and St Helen’s School, took to the big stage on September 20 and performed two routines at Her Majesty’s Theatre.

Three coaches of thirty-six dancers aged from 11 to 18-years-old and their families travelled up to the city for the special event, organised by Young Performers.

Principal and owner of the school, Sharon Philips, said the London performance was an amazing opportunity for the group.

“The group has raised thousands of pounds for charity in the past, so it’s good that they can help again while dancing on the stage,” she said.

“The girls were both nervous and excited. We went in three coaches and there was a total of 113 of us.

“They performed a traditional and classical ballet piece and also a hoedown, Western modern piece.

“It was an amazing day and the girls couldn't have danced any better -the day went so quick.”

“We were all very proud of them. Money raised from the show goes to a variety of children's charities."
