A 30-YEAR-OLD man who was feared to have been stabbed in Brislington was actually impaled on railings, it has emerged.
The man was found by a member of the public in the early hours of Wednesday morning (November 4) with puncture wounds to his stomach, in Sandy Park Road.
Police initially treated the case on as a stabbing, but it appears that the man was not attacked at all.
A police spokesman confirmed the force is not treating the incident as a crime.
He said: "At this time, we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident."
The man was found at 5am on Wednesday and emergency services were called to the scene.
A spokesman for the South Western Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 5.14am to Sandy Park Road.
"One male casualty suffered a stomach injury and was taken to Southmead Hospital for treatment."
Police closed Sandy Park Road for most of the morning while they investigated the incident.
