THE “REAL Countess of Downton Abbey” attended a lunch at Eastwood Park to mark the 30th anniversary of the Severnside Support Group for local charity St Peter’s Hospice.

Lady Fiona Carnarvon, who lives at Highclere Castle, the setting for ITV’s Downton Abbey, gave a talk about her life at the castle and what it is like behind the scenes.

St Peter’s Hospice head of supporter relations John Flanagan said: “We had a wonderful lunch with the Countess of Carnarvon who told us many fascinating stories about her exciting life at Highclere Castle. It was a lovely event enjoyed by all, especially those who are fans of the show.

“It was also a wonderful chance to celebrate the amazing work of the Severnside Support Group who have worked tirelessly over the past 30 years to arrange fundraisers and events for the hospice raising over £300,000.”

“The Countess of Carnarvon was so impressed when we told her about the work we do at the hospice that she has arranged to pay us a visit next year to meet with patients, staff and volunteers. We’re really looking forward to welcoming her.”

As Bristol’s only adult hospice, St Peter’s Hospice cares for more than 2,670 patients each year as well as supporting family members.
