POLICE are investigating an attempted burglary on a pharmacy in Thornbury last night, the second to occur on the premises in just over a month.

A police helicopter was dispatched from Filton around midnight after reports of burglars attempting to break into Lloyds Pharmacy on Thornbury High Street.

A similar attempted break-in took place in the early hours of December 17, an attack believed to be linked to Michael Anthony hair salon in Alveston on the same night.

Thornbury beat manager PC Sean White said: "This incident is around a similar time to the previous ones and have have gone for the same door in a similar fashion.

"As a result we believe that it is possibly linked, there are a number of possible suspects which we have from police in Bristol and will be following up on."

Simon Whitby from Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: “We received a report of an attempted break-in at the Lloyds Pharmacy in Thornbury and a helicopter was sent up to investigate.

“There was some damage to the back door of the premises but no sign of entry.

“The individuals had left the scene by the time the helicopter arrived and as of yet we have made no arrests.”

Officers have asked for anyone who might have seen something to call 101 immediately.
