VOLUNTEERS are being sought after by an educational family animal park ahead of their busy spring season.

The Wild Place Project, which is based in Easter Compton off Junction 17 of the M5, needs a further 100 people on top of its existing 80 volunteers to keep it going in the run up to half term.

The park, which offers a wide variety of animals including zebra, cheetah, eland, lemurs and red river hogs, is looking for people to join the team, working in a number of positions, including rangers who man the lemur walk-through exhibit, gardeners, outdoor learning and face-painting volunteers.

Volunteers need to be over 18 and should be available for a minimum of half a day each week, including during school holidays.

Wild Place Project’s head of operations, Nigel Simpson, said: “Volunteering at Wild Place Project is a fantastic way to learn new skills and meet people, as well as being a great opportunity to get involved in an exciting, new attraction and be a part of a dynamic and evolving visitor attraction that’s bringing conservation to life.”

He added: “We’re looking for hands-on, confident and outgoing individuals who love being outdoors and can inspire visitors about our animals and conservation work while helping them to have a great day out.”
