A WILDLIFE attraction in Easter Compton is calling upon the public to help their staff save giraffe from extinction by joining their three peaks climb.

Staff from Wild Place Project will be climbing the iconic Welsh Three Peaks on Saturday, July 9, and are encouraging companies and individuals to join them and help fundraise.

The group have a target set of £750,000 to build a state-of-the-art giraffe house on the site, and hope the fundraising mission from climbing the combined 9,500ft height of Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen y Fan will push them on their way.

Participants are asked to raise a minimum of £300 through sponsorship towards the expedition, with entry costing £135 – including mountain guides, travel, accommodation, food and refreshments.

The giraffe house will be constructed in the ‘Edge of Africa’ exhibit, and will allow visitors to come-face-to-face with the mammals, whose numbers have significantly decreased in the past 15 years - falling from 140,000 to fewer than 80,000.

Nigel Simpson, head of operations at Wild Place Project, said:  “There are now fewer giraffe left in the wild than African elephants, so this is a hugely important mission for us.

“Get in touch if you would like to join us in raising awareness and funding as well as to feel a personal sense of achievement climbing the peaks.”
