POLICE are appealing to the public to help identify a potential witness following an assault on a bus in South Gloucestershire.

The incident took place on the number 75 as it was on the A38 Gloucester road, near to the Royal Mail building at midnight on Saturday, April 30.

A man sitting upstairs on the bus was assaulted by another man. The victim received treatment for facial injuries at the BRI before being discharged. 

A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.

Officers are keen to trace the man seen in a released picture, who is reported to have helped the victim, preventing him from receiving more serious injuries.
