A BURNED out car has been recovered by police on the outskirts of Thornbury this morning.
Firefighters were called to the remains of a Volkswagen Passat in Itchington at 12.30am, which had been reported stolen from Keynsham last night.
Police have said the owners have been notified.
Thornbury beat team manager PC Sean White said: “We have no links between Keynsham and Thornbury at present.
“There has been no other similarly reported crimes in the area for us to connect it to.
“This is being treated as a theft, not a burglary, as the car was stolen from outside the house, rather than any signs of forced entry to steal keys.
“In these cases there is usually another vehicle used in tandem, so the thieves might not be local.”
Police are requesting for anyone with information that could assist in their inquiries to call 101 immediately.
