A HOAXER from Bristol has been jailed for 18 months for faking a bomb plot after being let go by a company in Severn Beach.

36-year-old Abraham Lincoln of Ashley Road, Montpellier, was convicted of targeting Bristol-based recruitment agency Interaction Recruitment, claiming to be an MI6 spy who had uncovered a terrorist bomb plot.

Lincoln had previously been an agency worker at Severn Beach company, UK Mail, serving as a parcel sorter for the company until he was released due to poor attendance.

He was convicted yesterday of communicating false information about the bomb threat on November 24 last year, and admitted a charge of obtaining services by deception.

Lincoln was arrested two days later on November 26, and his actions led to an anti-terrorist investigation.

Police enquiries led to the discovery of various text messages sent from Lincoln’s mobile phone, making bomb threats.

Lincoln told the court he had good reasons for sending the warnings to the company, having overheard a plot to place a bomb at the company.

After the trial, DC Dai Nicholas said: “False calls of this nature will not be tolerated and will always be investigated.  In this case the defendant was convicted for an offence which will always carry a mandatory prison sentence."
