A SCHOOL in Thornbury has opened its doors to the community with an exhibition of its finest moments to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Highlights of The Castle School’s history are now on show in the exhibition, which runs until Saturday, June 25.

Members of the public are invited to visit the school and explore the archive material on display, including an array of artifacts, photos and documents.

The exhibition in the Octagon building will be open today from 10am to 3pm, and again on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am to 4pm, on Thursday June 23 from 9am to 7.30pm, and Saturday, June 25 from 10am to 4pm.

Tours of the school will also be available next Saturday from 1pm to 4pm.

Castle School head teacher Peter Smart said: “This celebration of our 50th year provides a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase the work of the school within the community.

“It has generated lots of interest and we have been able to gather together some fascinating archive material.

“Those who have been connected with the Castle School over the past 50 years have shared many warm memories with us.

“The Castle School is very proud of its excellent reputation and of our 50 years’ service to the education of the students within the community.

“Today, as ever, we are committed to our ethos of Achievement for Everyone. The strong legacy of the past has built a successful foundation on which we can build a bright and energetic future.

“The exhibition is open to everyone.  We look forward to sharing fond memories with all who visit.”
