AVON and Somerset police and crime commissioner Sue Mountstevens has launched a new consultation offering residents the chance to have their say on the policing service.

The consultation is seeking the views of residents, community groups, businesses and partners to weigh in on strategic policing priorities which will help shape and develop the next Avon and Somerset police and crime plan.

The consultation, which has now been launched, closes on Tuesday, August 30.

The findings will be presented to the Police and Crime Panel for review, before being published in October.

Ms Mountstevens has already highlighted that vulnerability, strengthening and improving local policing teams are areas she believes should be a strategic priority for the police but has said she wants the public to contribute.

She said: “Everybody who makes up Avon and Somerset will have a view on what should be a policing priority in the area they live and work.

“Listening to local people is the most important part of my role and it’s only by hearing from you, that I can truly be your voice in policing.  It’s your police service so it’s only right that your thoughts are represented in our Police and Crime Plan.

“Everyone has the right to be safe and feel safe in their community and I want local people to have the upmost confidence in the police.  This is your chance to tell me what is important to you and I look forward to receiving your responses.”

A video message from Sue Mountstevens can als be found on the Avon and Somerset PCC YouTube channel.
