MORE THAN 150 students from a school in Thornbury were celebrated last week at an event to recognise their successes over the past year.
Pupils, family members and staff of The Castle School turned out on Thursday, July 7 for the annual achievement evening with awards being presented for subject excellence, personal endeavours and contributions to the school and to the wider community.
The evening’s guest of honour was Thornbury artist, illustrator and florist Lorna Page, one of the minds behind the popular animated TV series “Flora’s World”.
Also in attendance were special guests Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire Dame Janet Trotter DBE, South Gloucestershire Council chairman Cllr Erica Williams, and Thornbury mayor Cllr Helen Harrison.
Castle School head teacher Peter Smart said: “I am extremely proud of the award winners. The students’ contributions optimise the school ethos of Achievement for Everyone.
“The evening was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate together and showcase our talent.”
