ALMOST 100 people turned out last Friday to visit Thornbury and Yate MP Luke Hall for the start of his second “Village Tour”.

The tour, which takes place over three consecutive Fridays, is aimed at giving residents of the villages and hamlets in the Thornbury and Yate constituency a chance to voice their concerns to Mr Hall face-to-face.

Having spent time talking to people from Alveston, Oldbury, Olveston and Tockington, the tour continues this Friday, taking the MP to Tytherington, Falfield, Tortworth, Charfield, Cromhall, Wickwar, Rangeworthy and Iron Acton.

On the final date of the tour, Friday, July 29, Mr Hall will be visiting Acton Turville, Badminton, Hawkesbury, Horton, Old Sodbury and Tormarton.

In recent weeks, the Thornbury and Yate MP has also held pop-up surgeries in the Tesco stores in both Thornbury and Yate, and stands at this year’s Sodbury Festival and Thornbury Carnival.

The stops on each tour are either held at local focal point in the community such as rural pubs, cafes, post offices, churches or village halls.

Mr Hall, who completed a similar tour last summer, said: “The village tour is a great way to meet local residents and hear first-hand concerns about issues facing our local communities, such as broadband, transport and rural crime.

“As a local man, it is hugely important that I am as accessible as possible as the local MP, and I hope to meet hundreds more local residents during the rest of my surgery tour.”
