A MAN was rescued from his car in Thornbury on Saturday after losing control and crashing through a fence onto a field.
Paramedics, police and air ambulance services responded to reports at 3.18pm of the incident on the field adjacent to Midland Way and Grovesend Road.
After smashing through the fence, the vehicle continued for around 30 metres into the field before coming to a halt.
The 45-year-old driver, who had sustained severe back injuries as well as a head injury from colliding with the windscreen and a fractured leg, was taken by road to Southmead Hospital for treatment.
Ambulance services informed the Gazette that the man had been elderly, but this has since been corrected by police who have confirmed the man's age.
The farmer who owns the land has been informed of the incident, but no further information is known at this time.
