A NEW charity challenge is looking to recruit 100 volunteers to help raise £100,000 in a year for good causes in South Gloucestershire.

The Impact Charity Challenge, which aims to draw together 100 volunteers to take part in various fundraising activities, will be working towards helping a number of good causes including children’s charity Jessie May, Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, Children’s Hospice South West and The Darren Wright Foundation.

As well as taking part in key fundraising events including a quiz, a sponsored walk and Grand Ball, participants will raise additional money through hobbies, events and contacting local businesses.

The initiative, which was imagined by friends Bob Barnes and Olly Slym, started four years ago with the Impact Charity Rugby team and other fundraisers resulting in raising over £50,000.

Helen Mackie, community fundraiser for Jessie May, which cares for terminally ill children in South Gloucestershire, as well as Bristol, Bath, North Somerset and Wiltshire, said: “It is absolutely wonderful that Bob and Olly have launched the Impact Charity Challenge and that they have chosen Jessie May as one of the nominated charities.

“The boys put so much passion, dedication and hard work into all of their charity work and it really shows with the well organised and successful schemes. I have no doubt that they will achieve their target of £100,000, and the money Jessie May receives will be hugely appreciated by the families we care for. “

Organiser Olly Slym said: “We are so thrilled to be fundraising for these four charities, this is our fifth year now and we want to make Impact even bigger. This is a challenge for everyone but as a team the £100,000 target will be smashed out of the park. We just need to pull the team together - so if you are interested please do get in touch.”
