CELEBRATIONS have begun today at The Castle School in Thornbury with another year of impressive GCSE results.

With more than a quarter of all entries achieving an A* or A grade and 65 per cent of year 11 students achieving the standard five A* to C grades, including English and Maths, there was plenty of reason for the smiles on everyone’s’ faces.

In total, 20 students managed the incredible feat of at least nine grades being either A* or A.

Among the high flyers were sisters Chantelle and Naomi Richter, who racked up a wealth of A*s with 11 and seven respectively.

Also flying high were Hannah Hobbs and Izzie Hunter, who both received eight A*s and three As, and Ellen O’Brien and Ben White-Horne who walked away with an amazing six A*s – Ben’s performance was all the more impressive with the fact he completed a GCSE in Computing one year early, scoring full marks in all aspects of the course.

Castle School headteacher Peter Smart said: "I am immensely proud of the continued success of all students at The Castle School.

“Our ethos of ‘Achievement for Everyone’ and high quality teaching enables our students to flourish and achieve their goals.

“Their achievements at GCSE can be attributed to their positive attitudes to learning and the support of their teachers and parents.  I am delighted that so many students will continue to build on these pleasing results in our thriving sixth form which secured excellent outcomes at A level this year."
