THE RETURN to school is a mixed bag of emotions for everyone involved, parents, teachers and children.
Whether it is the excitement to see friends, the dread of returning to schoolwork or the relief for a bit of time off, it is a big moment and will result in a large upheaval of
But in a town as community focused and generally safe as Thornbury, stranger danger should not be a worry that should always be on the forefront of the mind.
How worrying is it that someone could possibly feel it acceptable to be able to approach young women in this manner, let alone two people?
If left unchecked, it could quite easily create an uneasy atmosphere, not only making pupils feel unsafe, but causing parents and schools to restrict the freedoms that their children hold dear.
As a result, it is important that young people, and especially women, should be made to feel comfortable in the town, and for whatever reason they are not, they feel comfortable in the company of others they know.
But incidents like this, however few and far between as they may be, should be reported to the police as soon as possible as it is the best way to deter such behaviour.
