FORGETTING to buy a gift for special occasions could soon be a thing of the past thanks to a new website created by a former pilot from Thornbury.

Former Red Arrows Leader and Castle School pupil, Jas Hawker had the idea for MyGiftGenie after he almost missed his second wedding anniversary.

He said: “I had reminders set on my computer but I was always busy when they came up and so I could only ignore it.

“It wasn’t until two days before my anniversary that I went into a blind panic, rushing from shop to shop to find something.

“There were also so many online gift shops, offering things that I really didn’t think were suitable to give, or things I wanted to buy, and I just got lost in the noise.”

The website offers visitors the chance to set free reminders for upcoming anniversaries, birthdays and special occasions, which come with suggestions for gift ideas tailored to the user.

“I thought what could have helped me in that situation. If the reminder had come with suggestions, and then with a couple of clicks my problems would have been sorted,” said Jas, who has created the site with his graphic designer wife Yolanda.

“That is where the idea of MyGiftGenie comes in, we would do all the hard work at the business end, so that our customers can get the brownie points for the great gifts they give their loved ones.”
