THORNBURY Olympian Sally Conway has been named as this year’s special guest of honour to turn on the town’s Christmas lights.

The Christmas light switch-on event will be taking place on Tuesday, November 22 at 7pm, with the traditional fun fair and stalls opening from 5.30pm.

A special draw will also take place prior to the event, with the winner being given the chance to join the Olympic medallist in turning on the lights.

This year’s charity beneficiary is the Armstrong Hall Redevelopment Appeal Phase One, who are aiming to raise £1 million to start work on the central community facility, and will be present on the evening with their collection buckets.

The charity had been the official beneficiary last year but due to poor weather disrupting the event, they have been given the opportunity again by the organisers.

To enter the draw, entrants must send their name, along with a contact number, email address, and a minimum donation of £1 to TCLA Publicity Officer, c/o 12, Bluebell Close, Thornbury, BS35 1UN.
