AN AGREEMENT to allow Gloucestershire residents to use the Sort It recycling centre in Thornbury has yet to be reached.
The request by residents and parish councils in the Berkeley area was made following the decision by South Gloucestershire Council in February – forbidding them from using the facility.
Cllr Ray Theodoulou, cabinet member for waste at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “Since South Gloucestershire Council’s decision in February not to allow residents from Gloucestershire to use the nearby Sort-it Centre in Thornbury, we have been trying to reach a compromise.
“No agreement has been reached yet, but we’re hopeful a solution can be found so all local residents can use the centre, wherever they pay their council tax.”
