THORNBURY Olympic medallist is set to trade blows with TV's trivia elite as she joins the panel for BBC quiz show "A Question of Sport" on Wednesday.

Joining host Sue Barker and team captains Matt Dawson and Phil Tufnell, Sally will appear alongside British sprinter Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, grand slam tennis champion Jordanne Whiley, and Premier League goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer.

Sally rose to stardom this summer after she claimed an incredible bronze medal as part of Team GB at the Rio Olympics, having since been named British Judo Female Athlete of the Year.

Last month Sally was the guest of honour at the Thornbury Victorian Fair, turning on the Christmas lights with the town’s mayor Cllr Helen Harrison.

Speaking to the Gazette about her quiz-show experience, Sally said: “I was really excited about going on the show, but really nervous at the same time.

“I didn’t have much confidence in my sporting knowledge, but when I was on the set, I wasn’t aware of the cameras at all and felt really comfortable.”

The show was filmed at the BBC in Manchester, an experience that Sally was able to enjoy with her mum Diana, step-dad Nigel and friend Taryn Roberts.

“It was good fun and I definitely would do it again,” she said. “We all had a really good time and were looked after very well.”

When pressed about how she fared on the show and whether she won, she simply said: “I can’t tell you that! You’ll have to wait and see…”

The show will air on BBC One on Wednesday at 10.45pm.
