ROADWORKS to widen the A38 southbound by the Aztec roundabout have begun, with temporary lane closures set for Thursday.

The works being carried out by South Gloucestershire Council include the widening of the A38 approach to the roundabout from the M5 motorway junction 16, in order to provide six lanes rather than four, as well as the widening of the eastern side of the roundabout to offer four lanes.

There will also be new pedestrian and cycle controlled crossing points across the A38’s northern arm of the roundabout and the widening of the shared foot and cyclepath on the northern and southern sides.

Narrow lanes will be in use while the work is carried out, but with the number of lanes remaining the same.

A lane closure on the southbound approach to the roundabout will however be in place from Thursday to Sunday while engineers carry out work to the gas mains.

South Gloucestershire Council have said they estimate the work to be completed by Autumn this year, apologised for any disruption caused by the work.
