A HOUSING developer donated £500 to enable 15 trees to be planted in Thornbury.

Bloor Homes donated the money to Thornbury’s Tree Strategy Group who aim to grow greener areas throughout the town.

Rowena Adams, Sales Director at Bloor Homes South West, said: “The Tree Strategy Group has done a wonderful job in enhancing the appearance of the town and we were delighted to contribute towards their continued good work.”

The donation allowed the group to plant their landmark 100th tree as well as 14 trees beside Morton Way outside the Bloor Homes’ Thornbury field’s development.

Chairwoman of the Thornbury Tree Strategy Group, Judith Hurford, said: “Several trees have been planted on Morton Way in the past two years. When work began on the Thornbury field’s development we felt that a row of cherry trees in front of the houses would further enhance the landscape in that area.

“We are all volunteers and rely entirely on fundraising to pay for the trees. The donation has made a massive difference and we are extremely grateful for their support.”

The group continue in their endeavour to expand green spaces in the town with a new goal of 200 trees to make the town more habitable for both wildlife and humans.
