A CHARITY has received extra funding to continue their work with struggling families with young children across South Gloucestershire.
Home Start Bristol received £4000 from Hollis Morgan’s estate agents through their fundraising activities.
The manager of the charity, Beverley Symonds said: “It’s a fantastic amount that will help us to continue supporting struggling families during 2017”.
The charity trains and recruits volunteers who then befriend a family and visit them once a week for two to three hours to offer support and friendship.
Volunteer advisor Jules Appleby, said: “We recruit and train volunteers who take part in a 36 hour course over nine weeks.
“The course has a level two college accreditation and with that, and the experience of working with Home Start Bristol, many volunteers use it as a stepping stone to new careers in social care.
“It’s a fabulous charity and we were recently awarded over £373,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to help us continue our crucial work.”
